FBR Orders to Block Mobile Phone SIMs of 506,671 Sims of taxpayers who failed to file tax returns for the tax year 2023.
FBR has issued Income Tax General Order Number C.No.6(3 0)S(IR-Operations)/2024 to enforce filing of returns by the Persons who are not appearing on active taxpayer list but are liable to file the Income Tax Return for Tax Year 2023 under the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
In exercise of the powers conferred under section 114B of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, Federal Board of Revenue issues the Income Tax General Order (ITGO) to disable the mobile phone SIMs.
FBR Issued Notices to non-filers
Tax evaders’ SIM cards “will remain blocked until restored by the FBR or the Inland Revenue commissioner having jurisdiction over them,” the FBR said.
Earlier, the FBR issued final notices to non-filers for blocking their mobile SIM cards and mobile phones.

Individuals facing SIM card blockage can have them unblocked by submitting their Income Tax Return for 2023.
The SIM cards will stay blocked until either the FBR or the relevant Commissioner of Inland Revenue restores them. Once tax returns are filed, the authority will decide on SIM card restoration.
The relevant Commissioner of Inland Revenue will restore the SIMs automatically along with the Weekly Active Taxpayers List updated on each Monday. Once tax returns are filed, the authority will activate the SIM cards.
